Another La Liga Hypermotion star… Weeeelcome back to discovering uprising talents that will be known in a few years.
Today, once again, not only we have a La Liga Hypermotion player, but an FC Andorra player who is on loan from Galatasaray.
After Aaron Yaakobishvili and Kim Min-Su, today we have another player from a team that came back to Spain’s second division: Efe Akman.
What should a CDM have? Ask Efe
Let’s start with context.
As mentioned in the previous reports, FC Andorra began the season strongly, positioning themselves near the promotion spots and playing convincing football. However, their form collapsed rather quickly, and what once looked like a promotion push turned into a relegation battle. This past weekend, a narrow win against ten-man Real Zaragoza marked a crucial step toward securing survival.
It is within this unstable environment that Efe Akman arrived during the final days of the summer transfer window. Initially, he struggled to break into the starting XI. The team was still functioning under a different coach, roles were defined, and continuity was prioritized. But as results declined and a managerial change followed, the new coach placed his trust in Efe Akman — and that decision proved significant.
Since gaining consistent minutes, both the player and the team have benefited.
FC Andorra are a possession-oriented side. They prioritize control through short passes, structured build-up and sustained pressure. They want the ball. They want rhythm. And when they lose it, they counter-press aggressively, especially in the immediate seconds after possession is lost.
This tactical framework is ideal for Efe Akman.
He is the traditional defensive midfielder — the kind who dictates tempo rather than dominates headlines. He connects defense to midfield, midfield to attack. He accumulates touches naturally, constantly offering passing lanes and organizing circulation.
Efe Akman understands game states. When Andorra are ahead, he slows the tempo, increases control and minimizes risk. When the team needs momentum, he accelerates play with sharper distribution and quicker decisions.
His short passing is reliable and clean, but his long-range distribution deserves equal praise. He is capable of switching play effectively and finding wingers in isolated 1v1 scenarios against opposing full-backs — a key component of Andorra’s attacking plan.
He is not a high-risk creator. He does not consistently attempt ambitious line-breaking passes, nor is he a volume chance-generator. But that is not his function.
His value lies in distribution, balance and control.
Defensively, his positioning and spatial awareness stand out. He anticipates well, recovers loose balls and frequently regains possession in advanced zones. Those recoveries are vital: they allow FC Andorra to sustain pressure and prevent dangerous counter-attacks before they fully develop.
An ideal CDM… with a lack of defense and physique?
Even though Efe Akman possesses many of the qualities required to become a top-level defensive midfielder, his game is not without flaws.
Defensively, he excels at ball recoveries — arguably the most important responsibility for a CDM in a possession-based team like FC Andorra. His awareness and positioning allow him to pick up loose balls and regain control for his side.
Buuut… there is another layer he still needs to develop.
When the team is forced into more static, positional defending — when they cannot counter-press immediately and must hold their shape — Efe Akman could be more impactful through interceptions and tackles. His reading of space is good, but he does not yet consistently disrupt passing lanes or step in aggressively to break up structured attacks. Adding that edge would elevate him from a good controller to a more complete defensive anchor.
However, the most evident weakness appears when you look at the numbers: duels.
Efe Akman is not currently a duel specialist — neither on the ground nor in the air. He does not engage in a particularly high volume of duels, and more importantly, his success rate is not dominant. For a player operating in central areas, where physical confrontations are constant and decisive, this is an area that cannot be overlooked.
Summary
Strengths:
- Controlling the tempo
- Great positioning
- Nice distribution, both in long and short range
- Great at recovering balls, especially in the final third
Weaknesses:
- Struggles in positional defending
- Duels
Player Comparison
In these images, the player is ranked against others in the same position and league. For each metric, you’ll see the statistic name, the player’s average per 90 minutes, and their percentile rank—which shows how they compare to their peers (e.g., an 80th percentile means they performed better than 80% of players in that group).

Future Moves and Player Expectations
For his future career path and expectations, there are different scenarios that seem plausible.
Firstly, if FC Andorra stay in Spain’s second division and he consistently gets the manager’s confidence, staying there seems a great option to develop his game and continue getting the spotlight.
In case they get relegated, two scenarios open up. Firstly, going back to Galatasaray seems an option, but we wouldn’t recommend it. To be there, you need skills, but also confidence and experience, both of which he doesn’t have yet. Sooo.. another loan to a team that is possession based seems a better option. In La Liga, some options open up, but the best scenario for him is to go to a team like Ajax or Leuven and get lots of minutes there.
Lastly, as always, let’s use some other players to represent the hopes and aspirations we have on Efe Akman:
Best-Case Scenario
Stainslav Lobotka — An underrated baller. Lobotka is an amazing player who sets the tempo, distributes the ball and puts the team together. He has been a key player for Napoli’s recent success.
Expected Outcome
Harry Winks — A player that distributes the ball and sets the tempo. He usually plays the safe option, but that doesn’t mean his contribution isn’t necessary. Moreover, he recovers the ball and contributes greatly on the defensive side.
Worst-Case Scenario
Ante Coric — A player that never shined because of his lack of physical adaptation. Despite that, he has great positioning and ball distribution.
